Chiang Mai for Loy Krathong

It's Loy Krathong here in Thailand and I (Michelle) celebrated by going to Chiang Mai for our last Loy Krathong here in Thailand. I stayed in a Hmong hilltribe village for the long weekend and it was a lovely experience! I was surrounded by cows, roosters and crops as far as the eye could see.

Coolest restaurant ever! I'm sure you've eaten BY the water but have you ever eaten IN the water?

A weekend in Kanchanaburi

A few weekends ago, we headed up to Kanchanaburi, Thailand for a quick getaway. It was nice to get out of the city and explore Thailand a bit. Unfortunately, a few days before leaving for our little trip, the King of Thailand passed away. The entire country is in a state of mourning with locals wearing all black. Foreigners are asked to wear dark colors out of respect for the King and the Thai people. Major forms of entertainment are on hold for one year - festivals, parades and even music is restricted in some places. We had a great time anyway - we are glad for the opportunity to explore Thailand before we leave in a few months.
