Merry Christmas everyone! We are headed to China next weekend and probably won't have time to post again before we get back after the New Year, so we wanted to share Christmas cheer a bit early.
Our first challenge was finding a tree. We planned on a small plastic one, doubting that Thailand would have a plethora of fresh pine trees in parking lots. But of course our friendly neighborhood Ikea had imported some for the homesick expats.
Ikea also had a great selection of lights and ornaments, so we had a nice little decorating party that night complete with Christmas music, hot chocolate made with real melted chocolate bars, and an attempt at mulled wine (we had to substitute some of the normal spices since things like cloves are hard to find here).
It wouldn't be Christmas without Christmas dinner, so we invited a new friend from Michelle's school over with her husband. We made ham, mac 'n cheese, sweet potato casserole and crispy white bread with deviled eggs for an appetizer.
Of course we failed to get pictures during dinner so you'll have to meet our friends next time (we swear they exist). Suffice it to say the mulled wine flowed all night!
We'll be missing carols and clam chowder at Annie and Parker's this year, but as a stand-in here is our Christmas carol to all of you! We couldn't find real jingle bells here but fortunately there's an a...well, you'll see :).
